Welcome to my website

I was born in 1954 and  am now based in Northamptonshire. I studied at the Ealing School of Art, Wimbledon School of Art and Goldsmith’s College. My work reflects a love of nature, played out in detailed studies of the countryside which surround my studio, a converted stable on a farm. Every season brings fresh inspiration to me, and to achieve the precision and focus so characteristic of my work I often paint ‘en plein air’, returning to the same position for weeks at a time even in deepest winter. The combination of intricate detail and careful composition in my work celebrates nature on every scale, from the twigs on the forest floor to the clouds skimming the vast skies. Having previously worked for years with watercolours I now work in oils finishing work in the studio, in pursuit of an even greater freedom of expression and intensity of colour and light.

I won two RWS (Royal Watercolour Society) awards: the Chris Beetles award (1988) and the Jeffrey Archer award in (1989), and subsequently exhibited at the Chris Beetles Gallery for a number of years. I have over the years shown in many galleries and exhibitions which can seen in more detail under 'about' where my work and career is revealed in greater depth. I have had many dedicated exhibitions in Northamptonshire and London, and am currently represented by the prestigious gallery Gladwell & Patterson based in Beauchamp Place, Knightsbridge, London. My work is widely collected in the UK and USA, and in numerous private collections.
